Video Transcript Step 8 - Agreements
Have you been offered a place in an aged care home? You will have to now complete the paperwork, including a Resident Agreement, and in many cases an Accommodation Agreement.
You’re legally-binding resident agreement covers the services available to you, fees, rights and responsibilities of the home, and YOURS as a resident. It’s vital to understand all the ins and outs of this contract.
Once you’ve signed, you’ll have 14 days to change your mind. Only going to the home for respite care? You’ll still need a resident agreement.
The Accommodation Agreement is also legally binding; between you and the nursing home. It sets out expected accommodation costs, and how you agree to pay them. The costs can be high because aged care is now means tested. You should think about getting financial advice from an aged care expert.
