What is the Commonwealth Home Support Program
Commonwealth Home Support Program
This program is right for you if you are an older person who can mostly – but not completely – live and cope on your own and don’t yet need higher levels of support. It aims to help you stay independent and in your home and community for longer.
Here are some examples of services you would get under the CHSP, in the community and at home:
- Social Support - social activities in a community-based group setting
- Transport - helps you get out and about for shopping or appointments
- Domestic Assistance - eg cleaning, clothes washing and ironing
- Personal Care - help with bathing or showering, dressing, going to the toilet
- Home Maintenance - minor repairs and care of your house or yard, eg changing light bulbs
- Home Modification - install minor aids such as alarms, ramps and support rails
- Nursing - a qualified nurse comes to your home and may, for example, dress a wound
